Me and my class have been learning about Matariki. Matariki is 700 stars, but only 7-9 can be seen by the naked eye. It is also when Maori stop hunting and start planting and getting ready for spring. Here is a Matariki legend: Tawhirimatea was angry because of the separation of his parents, and got so angry his ripped out his eyes. He threw his eyes into space and they became stars.
